All states require some form of minimum motorcycle liability insurance for riders. For example- Maryland requires $20,000 per person injured in any one accident and $40,000 for all persons injured in any one accident bodily injury coverage.
$15,000 is the state minimum required insurance in the event you cause damage to other people’s property.
Other BMW motorcycle insurance coverages include:
Agree Value- The value of your motorcycle gets locked in at the beginning of your policy term. Then, in the event of a total loss, that’s the amount that will be paid out in claims.
Often, appraisals or at the very least, photos of your BMW will be requested before this coverage is provided.
Collision- If your BMW gets hit or hits an object (a tree, or a house), your claim will be paid out under this coverage. Deductibles of $250, $500 or $1,000 are usually available. The higher the deductible you select, the less your insurance premium will be.
Comprehensive- Also known as OTC (other than collision), this coverage pays out in the event of a loss due to hail, wind, theft, vandalism etc.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist- If you’re involved in an accident with a rider who has none or has inadequate insurance coverage, this will protect you.
Other coverage may be available. Make sure you check with your insurance agent to get the best type of insurance coverage for your BMW motorcycle.
