Started in 1999 in his garage, former Ironworker Paul Teutul Sr. began Orange County Choppers as a passion project. It wouldn’t take long for his little company to take off. That same year with the help of his son Paul Jr., Paul Sr. debuted OCC’s first bike at Biketoberfest in Daytona. “True Blue” was a hit and the shop took off.

A master designer and fabricator, responsible for some of the most recognizable bikes on the planet.
In 2002, the world was introduced to the Teutul’s through The Discovery Channels’ hit show “American Chopper”. The founders of Orange County Choppers would soon come to be a household name. A third Teutul, Mike (son and brother to the Pauls) has been an important part of the company but more so for his personality than his bike building skills.
Paul Sr. represents the ‘old guard’ of chopper building philosophy and his bikes tend to take older and more power driven lines. Paul Jr. served as the chief designer and fabricator of Orange County Choppers from the company’s inception in 1999 until this year, OCC’s 10th anniversary. While he has left full time duties, he remains an important consultant to the company.
Their “theme” choppers are in large part responsible for their popularity. Less about driving and more about aesthetic value and “wow” factor, their creations are some of the most instantly recognizable bikes on the planet.
CLIENTEL
Their theme bikes have been commissioned by a wide variety of interests. Corporations (NAPA, Gillette, GoDaddy, etc.) have enlisted their talents as have charities (Livestrong, Jorge Posada Foundation, etc.) as well as film and television (IRobot, My Name is Earl, Bill Murray.)
They have also produced theme bikes designed for the US Military (Air Force F-22, Army Comanche), NASA (Space Shuttle) and a Statue of Liberty chopper.
But it is the bikes that have heart and a story that have garnered the most attention. Most notably among these are the Firebike, which was dedicated to the firefighters who lost their lives during 9-11. The bike included a piece of the towers pulled from Ground Zero.
POP CULTURE
The three Teutuls have made their way around the spectrum of pop culture. Appearing on an episode of “My Name is Earl” as well as “King of the Hill.” They have had multiple appearances on talk show circuits.
